Troy Community Consolidated School District 30C is pleased to announce Preferred Meal Systems, Inc. as the food service provider serving hot lunches for the 2008-2009 school year.  Preferred Meal Systems strives to provide a wholesome, nutritious lunch to your child.  Each meal follows the Nutritional Guidelines set forth by the National School Lunch Program and will consist of:

 

¨      2 ounces of meat/meat alternative         

¨      2 servings of Fruit and/or vegetable

¨      1-2 servings of grains

¨      8 fl. Ounces of Milk

 

The Federal Guidelines require that lunches contain 1/3 of the Recommended Daily Allowance of calories, with less than 30% of the calories from fat, and less than 10% of the calories from saturated fat.  In addition, Preferred Meals is pleased to announce that all items they purchase or produce are trans-fat free.

 

Lunch menus will be sent home with your child each month. 10 or 20 day punch-card meal tickets will be sold on the 2nd and 16th of each month.  If the 2nd or 16th falls on a day when students are not in session, the tickets will be sold the following school day.  Unused meals on the ticket can be carried over month to month, until June 2009, when they will expire.

 

Please keep in mind that milk is included with every paid lunch.  Extra Milk will be sold on a 20 day ticket only.  Prices for the tickets are listed below:

 

10 day Full Lunch Price         $20.00             10 day Reduced-fee Lunch        $4.00

20 day Full Lunch Price         $40.00             20 day Reduced-fee Lunch        $8.00

20 day Milk                            $ 7.00

 

Checks should be enclosed in an envelope clearly marked with the student’s name, grade and teacher. 

 

Punch-card meal and milk tickets will be distributed to your child’s teacher and kept at the school.  Tickets will not be sent home.  Students will receive their paid lunch ticket from their teacher before lunch.  The tickets will be collected in the lunch line to be punched, and returned to the teacher at the end of the school day.
