Teachers for a day in Project Launch

Happy Holidays to all students and their families!

Off Balance – Students have role played their way into an understanding of the checks and balances of our government. However, hysteria, fear, and suspicion caused FDR to issue executive order 9066 in 1942, which perpetuated the scales of justice to be off balance favoring fear over constitutional law.  Over 110,000 Japanese American citizens went into internment camps, losing all of their basic rights guaranteed them by the constitution.  Project Launch students discussed ways to keep history from ever repeating itself in these types of crisis.

Diffendoofer Day

Curiously, Dr. Seuss’ final work is a book about a very creative teacher, Mrs. Bonkers in Diffendooferville who presents her lessons utilizing a different thinking pattern. Displaying an awesome array of different thinking themselves, students then acted, sang, moved, and created their way into the heart of this teacher as they presented their own lessons to me! It was great!

Looking Ahead: Next semester with the help of two of our instructional specialists, centers of learning will become a part of our learning routine in Project Launch.  One center will also propitiate students into their research projects as they spend time consulting with me.  Over the holidays, start a dialogue if possible about areas of interest with your student that might make a good research topic. Have an awesome break!!
