Professional Growth in Troy 30-C consists of multiple opportunities for our licensed teaching staff. Ultimately, Troy 30-C seeks to provide professional growth that sharpens our staff's skills and improves learning for all of our students.

Mentoring & Induction Program

Year 1 Teachers

• Mentored by building’s Instructional Coach & Formal Mentor (one program specific mentor assigned as needed to co-mentor teachers in special programs)
  • Coaches lead initial training at induction and provide follow up support throughout the year
  • New teachers establish a relationship with the coach and formal mentor before the school year begins and can receive assistance with beginning of year routines and procedures
  • Formal mentor, coach, and building administrators support new teachers to implement the school’s vision and mission and contribute to a positive school culture and climate
• Emotional support throughout the school year
  • One on one support before and after school (as often as needed)
  • Job embedded classroom support (as often as needed)
• Customized professional development
  • Universal system for observing, providing feedback, and offering support by all coaches across the district
  • Engaging in two (4-6 week) coaching cycles throughout the school year as a requirement to ensure customized professional development and support are provided
  • Building specific bite sized professional development offerings to grow the new teacher team
  • Scheduled release time to work with the formal mentor and coach on individual goals
• Classroom observations with the Coach
  • Observing effective teaching practices in formal mentor and peer’ classrooms with the coach aligned to coaching cycle  (to engage in model peer coaching or corridor coaching)
  • Formal mentor and coach support the observed practices in new teacher’s classroom

Year 2 Teachers

Engaging in one (4-6 week) coaching cycle as a requirement for the year to ensure customized professional development and support are continued

• Informal mentors and Year 2 teachers participate in a book study (4 book study events outside of the school day throughout the year)
• Book study is facilitated by the Executive Director of Student Services. The content of the book study is aligned to the district’s third goal area of the strategic plan: Social Emotional Support & Belonging

Professional Development Approval Process

As of the 2015-2016 school year all licensed Troy employees are required to obtain pre-approved and final approval for graduate credit coursework and micro-credentials through their employee access in Skyward. This process replaced Troy's previous '"Graduate Credit" process. The process in Skyward consists of several different steps.

We are so excited that you are considering Troy 30- C for your placement, and we are honored that you'd like to begin your professional journey with us!

Please note the deadlines to apply for Student Teaching or Internships are as follows:

• May 1st for fall placement
• November 1st for spring placement

We accept observation requests on a rolling basis. However, we do require time to get a placement secured. 

First, we will need you to fill out the Student Teacher or Observation Request Form to express your interest in working with the district.

After the form has been received and reviewed, we will reach out to you via email about any next steps and decisions.

Student Teaching & Internships

We require the completion of the Student Teacher form, you may be required to interview. We will make every effort to provide placement.

Common Questions

Do I need to be fingerprinted?
Yes. Student teachers and interns need to be fingerprinted at Accurate Biometrics.

Do I need a TB Test & Physical?
Yes. Student Teachers and Interns will need a TB Test and Physical from within the last 2 months on file.

I'm not able to student teach this semester after all. Will you save my spot for next term?
No, though we will do our best to accommodate you. You will need to reapply.
