Troy School District 30-C eLearning Plan
In the event of an emergency, Troy 30-C will utilize eLearning days called by the Superintendent of Troy School District 30-C. When an eLearning day is called, students will be responsible for completing assignments remotely. The definition of remotely is dependent on grade level appropriateness as deemed by the school district. Assignments are outlined by grade level below.
The decision to take an emergency day as an eLearning day will be announced at the same time.
Students who are chronically absent are at serious risk of falling behind in school, according to the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, missing school can have a disproportionate effect on students already at risk for falling behind. Flexible learning, such as eLearning, may help ensure the continuity of instruction during days of non-attendance while also giving students the opportunity to learn in different ways and in different settings. The guidance for eLearning days is directly tied to recommendations from Illinois State Board of Education and Section 10‐20.56 of the School Code [105 ILCS 5/10‐20.56].

Virtual Office Hours:
- Virtual Office hours will be held from 9:00-2:00 on eLearning Days.
- All certified staff (including general education, special education, specials/Explore teachers, and specialists) can be contacted during virtual office hours during the eLearning Day via their email address and/or other regularly established communication set forth by the classroom teacher (i.e. google classroom, Seesaw, Remind).

- Assignments are due upon the reopening of school. Any student that did not have access to digital lessons will have additional time to complete the lessons once school reopens.

- Teachers are required to verify 5 hours of instruction or school work, as required in Section 10-19.05, for each student participating in an e-learning day:
- During eLearning students must be provided work from the teachers they were assigned to see on the missed day from multiple subject areas that equate to no more than 5 hours of participation.

- Reading, Math, and Primary Specialists will be available to connect via email and/or Google Chat, or Google Meet in the event that a teacher or student needs help.

- Grades will not be assigned to eLearning activities but will be used for attendance purposes.
- Students in Grades 5-8 should check all Google Classrooms including
- Exploratory/Band/Choir/Spanish.
Student Attendance
- Teachers will determine if a student was in attendance upon the return of normally scheduled school hours by reviewing work completion for the assigned eLearning days. Teachers have 3 school days to make a change to a student’s attendance after reviewing assignments.
- Attendance is marked as present if and/only if all assignments are fully completed for that day's activities. Students who do not fulfill these requirements will be marked absent for the eLearning Day.
Personal or Sick Day Use:
- Teachers that need to use sick leave or are on approved personal leave will need to contact families to inform them that they will not be holding office hours.
